CHRISTMAS COVER GIRL

In December 2015, I had a cover and feature in the Delicious Dolls Magazine with this gorgeous Christmas themed, strip tease set by the amazing DollHouse Photography. With December being one of their most popular issues I was absolutely delighted when my images were selected for a feature and cover.

The aim of the shoot was to transform the studio into a magical, vintage Christmas set, which I absolutely loved. And believe me, prepping for this shoot was just as fun as nailing the perfect shots!

I’m always keen to push the boundaries of conventional shoots in order to come up with new and exciting ideas that are a little bit different. And for this shoot, we decided to run with a concept that centered on the theme: ‘a naughty striptease whilst taking selfies with my Polaroid camera.’ I just loved how the theme ties into modern life and vintage pinup at the same time.

I love Christmas and it was great to be able to get excited for the big day almost two months early.

I first fell in love with modelling almost two years ago, after doing a vintage pin-up photo shoot with DollHouse Photography. Since then, I have continued to exercise my passion, becoming one of The Pinup Academy’s professional pinup models.

I love all aspects of my job but, above all, I really enjoy experimenting with different looks, particularly those from the 1940s and 50s. Dressing up as a pin-up doll from this era is definitely my form of escapism and I love it! The whole era is steeped in nostalgia and creating authentic looks that capture the iconic essence of this period always keeps things exciting.

Oh, and then there’s the freedom. In the world of pin up modelling, anything and everything goes, allowing you to be creative, show your personality and, most importantly, have lots of fun. No two shoots are ever the same. This means that I always have the opportunity to explore new and exciting looks and themes – it’s this creative element that I love the most.

When it comes to exploring and finely tuning shoot ideas, I like to be involved as much as I can – putting my creative stamp on all, or some elements of a shoot is important to me.

Although many of my shoots take their inspiration from the 1940s and 50s, I like to bring them up to date by injecting modern elements. It’s great to be able to add a new dimension to things once in a while, and it keeps things interesting.

For this particular shoot, we decided to run with a concept that centred on the theme: ‘a naughty striptease whilst taking selfies with my Polaroid camera.’ I just love how the theme ties into modern life and vintage pin-up! Although, I don’t think I’m the queen of selfies just yet…it certainly added a modern twist to the images.

And prepping for this shoot was just as exciting as getting up close and personal with the camera. The aim was to transform the studio into a magical vintage Christmas set.

Chrissy (an award-winning photographer from Dollhouse Photography) and myself embarked on a Christmas shopping trip together on the morning of the shoot! It was all very surreal, and as we filled our trolley full of Christmas decorations, it was fair to say that we turned a lot of heads that morning. I love that I can be involved in all aspects of a shoot, especially the process leading up to getting that perfect set of images!

As soon as I heard the concept, my face lit up – the festive season is one of my favourite times of the year, so it was great to be able to get excited for Christmas almost two months early.

I’ve been a pin-up model for almost two years now and I have to say that picking out outfits for shoots never ever gets boring. Despite having an over-flowing wardrobe of outfits and lingerie, I still get a buzz out of discovering new looks and themes.

For this shoot, I picked out a quirky red retro, polka dot pinup dress from the vast collection of items in the DollHouse wardrobe, as well as a vintage lingerie set with red seamed stockings.

When I’m taking part in shoot, I love to get lost in my own little world - it’s a good place to be. I love nothing more than getting dressed up and being cheeky in front of the camera! I try and inject elements of my personality into all of the shoots I work on – I hope this shines through.

Ambition is important to me and my ultimate goal is to become as successful as Dita Von Teese. A big dream and bold statement to make but I am determined to make it!

Based in the south west of the UK, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide range of shoots so far, which has allowed me to establish a healthy portfolio of different looks. Of course, they all have one thing in common - they encompass all things vintage and pin-up!

Vintage pin up is one of my biggest passions, and is an area that I am also looking to pursue via YouTube – watch this space.

Of course, it’s also great to be able to represent the pinup industry at events across the UK, it can be hectic at times but exciting! I’m definitely looking forward to the future, especially as I’ve now been given the opportunity to become Delicious Dolls Magazine’s newest columnist – look out for more from me in the next edition.
